a) economic activities - to foreigners who are to carry out economic activities independently or within family associations, according to the law on the organization of economic activities by natural persons;
b) professional activities - to foreigners who have the right to exercise individual professions in Romania under special laws;
c) carrying out commercial activities - to foreigners who are or will become shareholders or responsible for the management and administration of companies in Romania;
d) employment - to foreigners who are to enter Romania for employment. Visa granted for such purpose shall be issued and athletes to perform in certain clubs and teams in Romania, based on an individual employment contract or a civil convention under the law;
d 1) posting - skilled foreigners, employees of foreign legal entities which can carry out activities in Romania, the following situations are posted in Romania on behalf of the company and under their direction, under a contract concluded between the undertaking making Posting and the beneficial provision of services operating in Romania, are posted to a unit located in Romania or a company belonging to a group of companies located in Romania;
e) studies - to foreigners who are to enter Romania in order to attend pre-university education, university or postgraduate, as appropriate, or for obtaining scientific titles within public or accredited private institutions, according to law;
f) family reunification - to foreigners who are to enter Romania in order to regain family unity;
g) religious activities - to foreigners who are to enter Romania in order to carry out the cults recognized at their request;
h) scientific research activities - to foreigners who are to enter Romania to conduct scientific research.
i) other purposes.
Long stay visa allows foreigners entered the Romanian territory for an extension of temporary stay right and get a residence permit.
Diplomatic and service visa
Diplomatic and service visa allows entry into Romania, for a stay, usually lasting for foreigners holding a valid diplomatic or service, to meet an official capacity as members of a diplomatic representative office or of a consular affiliation state in Romania.
These types of visas shall be issued to holders of diplomatic, service or assimilated respectively, at the request of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the sending State or a diplomatic or consular, as well as family members with whom the holder lives and shall valid for their mission or in accordance with bilateral agreements to which Romania is a party.
